Welcome to Binary City. We're looking for an experienced Senior Systems Administrator to lead and manage our IT infrastructure and systems administration team. This is a managerial position, requiring both strategic oversight and technical expertise to ensure the efficiency, security, and scalability of our IT environment.
As the head of the Systems Administration department, you will be responsible for developing IT strategies, implementing infrastructure projects, and ensuring system integrity while leading a team of administrators. This role involves working across various cloud and on-premise technologies, maintaining high availability, and optimizing our network, security, and database environments to meet business needs.

Minimum Educational Qualification
- Diploma in IT or Computer Science
- NQF Level 6 or higher
Responsibilities
IT Infrastructure & Systems Management
- Oversee the planning, implementation, and maintenance of servers, networks, databases, cloud platforms, and security frameworks.
- Manage on-premises and cloud-based systems (AWS, Entra ID, Google Cloud).
- Ensure high availability, performance, and security of all IT services.
- Implement IT policies, security protocols, and compliance measures.
- Conduct regular system audits and risk assessments to mitigate potential threats.
Team Leadership & Management
- Lead and mentor a team of system administrators, providing guidance, training, and performance management.
- Allocate resources effectively to meet business objectives and ensure efficient department operations.
- Promote a culture of continuous improvement, staying ahead of technological advancements.
- Define and monitor Key Performance Indicators (KPIs) for IT service delivery.
Security & Compliance
- Implement and oversee cybersecurity policies, including firewalls, antivirus, intrusion detection, and encryption.
- Ensure data security best practices, system integrity, and disaster recovery procedures are followed.
- Monitor and maintain backup solutions with regular recovery testing.
Cloud & Server Administration
- Manage cloud services, ensuring secure, cost-effective, and scalable deployments.
- Oversee SQL database administration (including replication, optimization, and performance tuning).
- Optimize Active Directory, domain services, and user access management.
Networking & IT Support
- Ensure stable network operations across Binary City and client infrastructure.
- Provide escalation support for complex IT incidents, resolving critical system issues.
- Work closely with vendors and internet service providers to maintain uptime and connectivity.
Strategic IT Planning & Reporting
- Develop and implement long-term IT strategies aligned with business goals.
- Provide regular reports on system performance, department metrics, and project progress.
- Track IT expenditures, assist with budgeting, and manage procurement of hardware/software.
Minimum Experience
- 7+ years in an IT system administration role.
- 5+ years managing servers, networking, Linux, Active Directory, backup solutions, and cybersecurity measures.
- 3+ years in a senior, leadership, or managerial role.
- 2+ years managing a cloud environment (AWS, Entra ID, Google Cloud).
- 3+ years administering SQL databases (including replication & security).
- 2+ years proven network administration experience.
Technical Skills
- Expert in Windows Server, Active Directory, SQL, Linux (Ubuntu/CentOS), and cloud platforms.
- Advanced networking knowledge, including firewalls, VPNs, VLANs, and load balancing.
- Proficiency in DevOps, infrastructure automation, and server optimization.
- Strong knowledge of cybersecurity best practices and disaster recovery planning.
- Experience with 3CX PBX administration is an advantage.
Special Requirements
- Drivers license code B (Namibian)
- Experience in setting up, maintaining, or supporting PBX systems
